It is possible to cry in outer space.

However, due to the lack of gravity in space, your tears would not flow down your cheeks – instead, the droplets would float in front of your face!

Check out this Q&A session with a NASA flight controller for more answers to frequently asked space questions.

Also, this picture is pretty good proof that you can cry in space.

For more info, check out the news story at ABC…

The only letter in the alphabet with more than one syllable is ‘W.’

W has three syllables (“duh-bull-you”). Therefore, when you begin a web url with “www,” you are actually saying nine syllables when “world wide web” would only be three! So much for abbreviations, eh?

The average person does NOT swallow eight spiders a year while asleep.

This is completely made up! In 1993, PC Professional magazine columnist Lisa Holst wrote an article criticizing various lists of “facts” that were being circulated by email at the time.

In order to further emphasize her point, Holst made up her own ridiculous list of facts – including our spiders fact! In making this list, Holst ironically was a part of the problem and disseminated a ridiculous fact of her own that…

A rhinoceros horn is made out of the same material as human hair!

Keratin is a protein that comprises rhinoceros horns, human hair and fingernails, and animal hooves!

Rhinos were nearly hunted to extinction because of the perceived medicinal powers of their horns. Pretty sad when you consider that their horns aren’t even made of a rare material.

As of right now, there are only 275 Sumatran Rhinos left, 40 Javan Rhinos, and only 4 living members of the Northern White Rhino…

More air travel statistics can be found here, including accident rates, survival rates, and comparisons between planes and cars, trains, buses,…

There are no New York Fries restaurants in New York City.

New York Fries is a restaurant chain that was founded in Brantford, Ontario by Jay Gould and his brother. In 1984, they decided to buy a small fry stand at the South Street Seaport in New York after having read a recommendation for it in the New York Times.

Ironically, that original stand has since been closed, so there are no longer any New York Fries stands located in New York City!

The shortest song ever recorded is 1.316 seconds long.

The song is entitled “You Suffer” by the British grindcore band Napalm Death. Apparently the lyrics are “You suffer, but why?” but it is so short that you can’t really hear it.

Twinkies do NOT have an indefinite shelf life.

A couple popular (untrue) twinkie facts:

~They remain edible for anywhere between 50 and 100 years.
~They have a shelf-life that lasts longer than their cellophane wrapper.
~They are not baked, but instead they are made through a chemical reaction that makes produces a foam.
~They contain a chemical present in embalming fluid.

Contrary to popular belief (and the movie Zombieland!), Twinkies only stay good for about 25 days. That’s…

Optimus Prime of Transformers and Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh are voiced by the same actor.

Peter Cullen is best known as the voice of the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime! However, he has also leant his speech talents to Pooh’s donkey friend Eeyore since 1989. In an uncredited role, Cullen was also the original voice of the Predator from the film by the same name!

Scientists have invented a spray-on clothing that can be washed and reused.

Spanish fashion designer Manuel Torres developed this amazing product with the help of scientists at Imperial College in London. The revolutionary spray is made of short fibers mixed into a solvent with polymers that bind the fibers together to form cloth! The solvent allows the mixture to be sprayed by either a spray gun or a can.

It takes only 15 minutes to spray on a new T-shirt! It can also be washed…

Ever wonder why they no one sings the real “Happy Birthday” song on television?

The real song is actually protected by copyright. That means that it cannot be used without permission for commercial uses. This includes in movies, tv shows, and commercials. Don’t worry though. You won’t get sued for singing it at home for your own birthday party.

The original tune for the song was originally for a song called “Good Morning to All”. Since then, it has been recorded with the words we now…

Vampire bats really do drink blood.

There are three different species, and all feed on nothing but blood: the common vampire bat, the hairy-legged vampire bat, and the white-winged vampire bat. Unsurprisingly, their front teeth are much sharper than their fruit-fed cousins. They also have special thermoreceptors on their noses that help them find the areas in which blood is near the surface of their victims’ skin.

Despite their name, vampire bats do not really SUCK their victims’…
