It’s the kind of thing that would embarrass most wine connoisseurs. Many professional wine tasters equate quality with price. The higher the cost, the older the wine, the better quality it is. But at the 28th Annual International Eastern Wine Competition, that was all proven wrong.

In an experiment, “wine experts” were given two bottles of the same wine. One was labeled “vin de table,” a more generic name, and the other was “grand cru,” a highly respected name. The tasters said that the first bottle was “simple, unbalanced, and weak,” while the second was “complex, balanced, and full.”
